The Epic Battle of Alesia allows players to refight Caesar's epic battle against the Gaul in 52 B.C., on a massive 34" x 44" hard mounted board. 10 Roman Legions against dozens of Gallic Tribes equals nearly 400 counters, each 3/4" big with rounded corners!

This game is Grant Wylie's reimagining of the Avalon Hill classic, Caesar: Epic Battle of Alesia originally published in 1976.

Inspired by the Avalon Hill title, the concepts have been simplified and clarified to make a smooth playing game that is great for 2 or more players, and the game is very solitaire friendly.  With less than 12 pages of rules, you'll be playing in no time!

As the Roman Player: You are Julius Caesar, proconsul of the Roman province of Gaul. Drawn into the Gallic revolt against Rome, you have chased and battled the leader of the revolt, Vercengetorix, into the fortified hilltop town of Alesia. Building a ring of earthworks and walls you are laying siege and starving him and his army out.

A Gallic relief army of up to 200,000 warriors is coming to attack you.  Can you defend your outer walls against the overwhelming hordes of relief force Gallic warriors, while defending your inner walls against Vercengetorix and his besieged forces?

As the Gallic Player:  As Vercingetorix  you are the "commander-in-chief" of the Gallic revolt against the Roman oppressor of Gaul.  Chased by Caesar and his vaunted legions you have retreated to the fortified town of Alesia.

Can you from within the fortified lines of Romans attack out, and coordinating with the relief force that is attacking in, overwhelm and destroy 10 legions while making your escape and carrying on the rebellion, freeing your people from the shackles of Rome?
